With the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor yesterday, the toolie white guys have begun to make themselves known.

I love it! It makes it easier to know who our allies are, and who is not.

Sotomayor’s credentials and experience are beyond reproach, and so all these nut-sacks have left to do is to criticize her gender and race.

I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I love to watch these evil bastards make fools of themselves.

Maybe all of those women and people of color who sided with the white tools on Prop 8 will finally see the real depravity of these “good christian father” types.

Most of them aren’t really that smart, they’ve gotten where they are because of their WiMP factor. (White Male Privilege) And so they go out on a limb saying idiotic shit about reverse racism and identity politics.

Identity politics and reverse racism are like the argument a 5 year-old will make when he runs out of anything to say.

“Un-uh” “U-huh” “Oh yeah?” “Make me.” “Shut-up” “No you shut up.”

I say give these ass-hats a camera or a microphone so they can show how evil they really are.

But I live to fight another day.

What a great day for the U.S. Sotomayor, if approved, will be only the third woman out of 111 total justices. I say, let’s have another 100 women before we appoint any more men.

I definitely don’t agree with Sotomayor on many of her positions, but women are the underrepresented majority in the U.S. I support Sotomayor 100 percent.

Call your Senator and tell her/him to support gender equality and justice.

Sexist Hispanic Caucus?

Solis and Sanchez

A Bloomberg piece about the number of Hispanic Cabinet members caught my eye today. Everyone is putting pressure on Senator Obama to ensure that he appoints a diverse Cabinet. As well they should.

With the appointment of Bill Richardson to Secretary of Commerce, Obama has tapped only one Hispanic Cabinet member thus far. (And not everyone is happy about Richardson’s appointment.)

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus sent a letter yesterday to Obama’s transition team. I called the Caucus today and was told that the letter was not public, and they could not comment. However, I was pointed to a piece at The Hill where more people on the list were leaked than in the Bloomberg article. I was able to put together a list of eight of the presumed 14 on the list.

1. Xavier Becerra – U.S. Trade Representative
2. John Salazar – Secy. of Agriculture
3. Adolpho Carrion – Secy. of HUD
4. Rick Noriega – Secy. of Veterans’ Affairs
5. Ruben Hinojosa – Secy. of Education
6. Raul Grijalva – Secy. of Interior
7. Linda Sanchez – Secy. of Labor (left Hispanic caucus in 2006)
8. Hilda Solis – Director of EPA

Notice anything unusual?

Yeah, me too. It seems like we have a sexism problem to overcome in the Hispanic Caucus. Now in fairness, this is an unofficial and incomplete list but hey, I’m not a professional journalist. I conjecture at will.

WHERE ARE ALL THE WOMEN? With Richardson’s appointment, the list should be approximately 10 women and four men.

According to the 2000 census the Hispanic population in the U.S. was approximately 12 percent of the total. Now by all estimates, that number is increasing rapidly, so let’s say currently the percentage is 20 percent.

The math works out to approximately 21 Cabinet members times 20 percent is approximately four people.

I am all for diversity and military affirmative action. So let’s get it right. Richardson should be out there championing Solis and Sanchez. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus should put these two women and eight more at the top of their list.

We can do better.

Oh BTW, in case you were wondering about the overall Cabinet gender equity? It’s a sausage fest.
