I voted for Obama. I agonized about it. In the end, the race was for President. If Palin were at the top of the Republican ticket, I would have voted for her in a heartbeat. I know I have been all over the map in this blog but I feel that any thinking voter would be torn over this election.
Quite simply, I voted for Obama as an act of affirmative action. The individual rights of blacks in the U.S. are not being protected by our government and invasive actions are required to right that grievous wrong. I voted for Obama for all of the black men and women unjustly imprisoned, and all of the black families victimized by this racist police state. I voted for Obama because of the Katrina tragedy and the despicable treatment of the citizens of New Orleans.
Next, I am in a Republican state and so my vote means less than if I weren’t. Also, on the ballot in my county, there were no women for President. I would have had to do a write in vote and I don’t believe that would have been counted with as much weight as a ticked box.
I voted for Obama, so I can say, “I told you so.” My vote gets me unlimited criticism privileges. I will be here to point out every fucked up thing Obama does. Every nail he drives into the coffin of capitalism, and every foreign war he perpetrates, I will remind you.
Finally, I want you all to remember when you are hating Sarah Palin, that Obama, in his very first opportunity to display his commitment to diversity and equality, chose a white man as his running mate. Obama is not a feminist and he doesn’t care about women’s rights.
If there is not a viable third party woman candidate in 2012, let me just say right now: PALIN 2012!
